Rebecca Hardcastle Wright, PhD, MDiv, originated Exoconsciousness and founded the Institute for Exoconsciousness (I-EXO). Her work centers on a question increasingly urgent to the future of humanity:

What rights and abilities must human beings preserve and develop as intelligence expands beyond the human?

Hardcastle Wright coined the term Exoconsciousness in 2006, defining it as the innate human ability to connect, communicate, and co-create with extraterrestrial, multidimensional, and spiritual intelligence. Her framework began at the intersection of consciousness studies, lived contact experience, spirituality, UAP, and non-human intelligence. Her work has developed into a comprehensive inquiry into human sovereignty, psychic intelligence, planetary ethics, and governance for an age of multiple intelligences.

In 2005, twelve years before UAP disclosure entered the mainstream, Hardcastle Wright taught one of the earliest college courses devoted to UFO studies, Extraterrestrial Reality, at Scottsdale Community College. The course examined UAP history, scientific evidence, contact experiences, and the implications of intelligent life beyond Earth for the human future. 

In 2008, she published Exoconsciousness and Psychopathology in Existenz: An International Journal in Philosophy, Religion, Politics and the Arts, applying the phenomenological and psychiatric framework of Karl Jaspers to the question of whether extraordinary contact experiences should automatically be classified as pathological. She presented this paper to the Karl Jaspers Society of North America at the American Philosophical Association.

Hardcastle Wright is a lifelong contact experiencer. She served for many years as the Washington, DC representative for Apollo 14 astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell, working directly on the Quantrek research team investigating zero-point energy, consciousness, and the extraterrestrial presence. She holds a PhD in parapsychic science, an MDiv in Philosophical Theology from Boston University School of Theology, and is an ordained United Methodist minister who served fifteen years as an interfaith university chaplain at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

She founded the Institute for Exoconsciousness in 2018, establishing an independent, nonpartisan, non-aligned platform for research, education, dialogue, and practical development around human consciousness and emerging intelligence. I-EXO's work addresses the human dimension of questions being raised across UAP research, artificial intelligence, space exploration, consciousness studies, ethics, and governance.

The Foundation Architecture of Exoconsciousness includes Hardcastle Wright's twelve-section scholarly framework establishing the field's intellectual, scientific, ethical, and governance architecture. It is currently being serialized and distributed through I-EXO's Substack publication. The framework draws on plasma biology and biophoton research, the FREE Experiencer Research Study of more than 4,200 contact subjects, and twenty years of scholarship independent of government, military, or corporate funding.

A central development of Hardcastle Wright's work is the Human Sovereignty framework, which translates Exoconsciousness into language relevant to public policy and governance. Human Sovereignty addresses humanity's capacity to retain and integrate meaningful agency over consciousness, identity, perception, decision-making, and relationships with increasingly powerful technologies and other forms of intelligence. Its core principles include natural consciousness, psychic intelligence, discernment, moral sovereignty, human dignity, and peaceful relations with all beings.

Hardcastle Wright initiated the Exoconscious Planetary Constitution, signed September 20, 2024. It is the first governance document specifically addressing the rights and responsibilities of human beings in direct relationship with non-human intelligence off planet and in space. The Constitution provides a natural-law foundation for planetary ethics, space governance, and human sovereignty in a post-disclosure civilization.

Her ongoing public work includes the Exoconscious Human Substack, a recurring analytical series examining developments in UAP disclosure, frontier science, artificial intelligence, and emerging intelligence governance through the Human Sovereignty framework. I-EXO also operates the Plasma Science Study Group, the Fourth State: Plasma Science Substack, and the Exoconscious Coaching program emphasizing  Integration, Clarity, Embodiment, Direction.

Hardcastle Wright is the author of three books: Exoconsciousness: Your 21st Century Mind (2008), How Exoconscious Humans Guide Our Space-Faring Future (2019), and Exoconscious Humans: Will Free Will Survive in an Increasingly Non-Human World? (2021), published in multiple language editions. Her academic papers, general articles, and book resources on Exoconsciousness are uploaded at Academia.edu.  She maintains active international relationships with researchers and institutions in Japan, India, Russia, Brazil, and the European Union.

With formation spanning philosophical theology, consciousness science, interfaith ministry, post-materialist research, and governance, Hardcastle Wright brings together domains that are too often treated separately: scientific inquiry, lived human experience, philosophy, spirituality, emerging science and technology, and governance.
